Since 1990, the faculty, staff, and students of the Interdisciplinary Program in Asian Studies have been working together to further the study of Asia and Asian diasporic communities. At present, Asian Studies offers two major degree tracks and a minor degree, all designed to engage students with the histories, cultures, and peoples of South, Southeast, East, and Northeast Asia. With major grants from the Chiang Ching-kuo, Japan, and Luce Foundations, faculty positions continue to increase. A generous grant from the family of Mr. Sang Bai Seung has enabled the program to plan a regular series of events devoted to Asian performance traditions. Our students enjoy a broad range of Education Abroad Programs as well as additional scholarship and study opportunities from partner institutions such as Hokuriku University in Japan. The next few years will be exciting ones for the growth of Asian Studies at UCR, and we look forward to working with you to make even more happen!
